how to edit infos in header and footer? Also how to change language in events

Hello,
1. I’ve edited the header and footer in layouts section but it somehow doesn’t work and I still see the demo infos at my website :(
2. My second question is how to edit events section? My website is in Polish so I want to change words “happening” “upcoming” “expired” to Polish version of these words.
