Restrict number of Blog posts and disable read more button

I yesterday bought square root CV theme to build my website and I’m almost complete. But I need to manage a blog too. So since there is a blog section in the theme, I thought to use that. In the front page, I need to restrict number of blog posts to 5. That says, If I have 6 blog posts, latest 5 blog posts show in vertical line and there is another custom button to bring the viewer to blog page (Separate page) to show all the blog posts. How can I do that?
Also, I need to remove read more button on some blog posts. How to achieve this?
