How to change setting at Popular Corsess and Latest Courses widget

At my site at homepage there are 2 widgets namely ‘Popular Courses’ and ‘Latest Courses’
Both widget shows 4 courses each.
But both widget are showing same set of courses and to my surprise the course which has good number are not showing instead they are showing courses which has approximately 0 or very few topics. I want to show the course which has high number of topics in at least ‘Popular Courses’ widget.
How it can be accomplished ?
