Student clicked finish course before the end

Hi support,
We have a course and have students that get near the end and then seem to see a “finish” box that pops up before they have completed the course, on clicking this the course ends and they cant log back in to complete the full course.
Could you please advise how to stop this and how we can reset the course without the user losing the part they were at so they can pickup where they left off?
