Meta Data Settings on Archive and Singular view pages

Hi Support,
Perhaps you can answer the following Theme Customizer questions:
Appearance > Customise > Blog Setting > Archive
1) The Grid Columns setting for 2 or 3 column grid layout does nothing on the blog layout. The blog page still only displays the posts one below the other.
2) Blog Setting > Archive: How do you hide the meta data? Date & Author? The Sortable meta tags are all hidden in the settings here – does nothing in the grid display.
3) Blog Setting > Singular: Sortable Meta Tags – also all are hidden here, still displayed on the post page. How do you hide this data?
4) Users: Author level access: Why are the Template Layouts (Dashboard > Templates) visible on the Author level access? It has no relevance to this level of access?
