To help you get the most out of our products, this guide provides a clear explanation of how licensing, updates, and support handling work for LearnPress add-ons. We’ll cover the most common questions to help you manage your purchases with confidence.
Managing Your License on Live vs. Testing Sites
A common question is whether separate licenses are needed for a live website and a testing (staging/development) environment.
You only need one license.
Our licensing system is designed with developers in mind, allowing you to use a single license across both your live and testing sites. You do not need to buy our products twice for the same project.
How it works:
- Activate on Live Site: We recommend activating your purchase code on your live website first.
- Move to Testing Site: When you need to receive automatic updates on your testing site, simply deactivate the license on your live site and activate the same code on your testing site. You can usually find this option under LearnPress > Add-ons
- Reactivate on Live Site: Once your testing is complete, deactivate the license on the testing site and reactivate it on your live site. This ensures your public-facing website continues to receive all future updates.
Understanding Your License, Updates, and Support
What happens after your initial purchase period expires? The rules differ slightly for individual add-ons versus themes that come with bundled add-ons.
For Individual LearnPress Add-ons
When you purchase a single add-on from the ThimPress website:
- License: You receive a license key that is valid for a lifetime of use on one site.
- Updates & Support: Your purchase includes one year of access to premium support and product updates.
What happens after one year?
If you choose not to renew your support license, you can continue using the add-on forever at its last updated version. You will no longer receive access to our support team or new product updates.
Example: You purchase a license on January 2, 2025, for version 4.1.4. Your license includes one year of updates. By January 1, 2026, you would have received all updates up to, for example, version 4.2. If we release version 4.3 on February 5, 2026, you will not be able to update to 4.3 unless you renew your license.
Renewing your license will grant you access to all the latest versions and another year of premium support.
