Expired events still appear on the website

To Whom It May Concern:
I’m in the process of building a website using the Charity WP theme and have added multiple events. The problem is that in the Events Manager list there are a couple of events (from April) with the status listed as expired, however they still appear on the Events page and the Home page where the 3 of the upcoming events are being displayed. The widgets/elements are set to only display Upcoming Events. Could this be a conflict with another plugin or is there another configuration that I missed? Can you please assist?
