How can my students track their progress?

My course has 36 lessons. When a student finishes one, they can mark it complete, but if you log out & come back in, that lesson does not look any different. How can a student keep track of where they are in the course? The lessons that have been viewed should be greyed out & if they pause a video mid-way, it should return to that point the next time they log back in?
