Hi,
I’ve been having many students report that the Mark As Complete button stopped working.
Can you please have a look and advise?
For example, using the student access provided privately, Login to the course dashboard.
– Click Track 3 (Practical Application – HHA Course)
– Check lesson 2.4 (Making Comopost)There is no Mark Lesson Complete button.
Also any of the previous lessons that have already been marked as complete no longer show the “Lesson Complete” text that replaces the button.
This problem exists in all the Courses included in this bundle:
– Permaculture Design – HHA (starting at Lesson 4.1 for this student)
– Permaculture Literacy HHA (starting at Lesson 4.1 again for this student)Please advise as to why the Mark As Complete button is no longer working.
Thanks!

Dear Bret,
I checked your site and all are working normal, please help me check again it.
See screenshot: http://prntscr.com/o4nlp7
With account you gave, I didn’t find out the order in the LearnPress (http://prntscr.com/o4nmpo). That’s why you can’t continue to complete lesson.
Please help me check again it.
Did you remove that order?
Best regards,

Hey Huyen,
Thanks for checking.
Yes the mark as complete does work for some, and others it does not. And it seems to work for a while then stop – which is why in the example I gave you there were lessons marked as complete.
No, I have not been removing any orders.
I did find this student’s order in the Paid Memberships Pro side (https://cl.ly/46e17552e337), but not under the Learnpress orders.
At this point about 20 of 80 students in this group of courses have reported issues marking lessons as complete.
Let me know if you see anything that could be causing this.

Dear Bret,
The reason is due to they doesn’t have the order in the LearnPress. That’s why this issue came.
Please try to create a new user then buy a Membership level and check again it.
Then let me know.
Note: You should buy Membership level, not create membership order by manual.

Hey Huyen,
I am a bit confused – no orders are created manually.
All orders checkout through the website though PMP, e.g:
https://hspermaculture.staging.wpengine.com/membership-account/membership-checkout/?level=25
So the system (Paid Members Pro + Learnpress Paid Members Pro) is creating the order -if there is an issue with some Learnpress orders not being created its a bug somewhere.
Additionally, students can mark lessons complete for a while, then it stops working. Does that not point to something else going on? Otherwise the issue of not being able to mark lessons complete should have been present from the start I would believe.
Any further ideas?

Also – one thing about that user (littlejamesy) is that there is no order in LP either yet it works.
Just another piece to the puzzle maybe.

Dear Bret,
I checked and don’t know why this user Lorrainecan join The Holistic Homestead Academy (Premium 497) membership level from April 5, 2019
Because I see you have set Disable New Signups for this Membership before (http://prntscr.com/o4o015).
Please help me consider again it.
Best regards,

Hey Huyen,
If I am understanding your question correctly, when the user Lorraine registered, that level was enabled.
Since then I disabled the Level and created a new Level as I increased the price of the course.
Is there a way to manually fix this issue for students with the problem?

Oh and I checked all of the students that had reported the issue and ALL were in the membership level “The Holistic Homestead Academy (Premium 497)”.
Seems no one outside of that Membership level has issues.

Dear Bret,
I’m so sorry about that.
The reason is due to you changed that Membership level, that’s why this issue came.
Please consider again it.
With this issue, you just can remove the old Membership order for these users then create a new Membership order.
Hope it’ll work.

Hey Huyen,
Are you saying that by setting a membership level to inactive it caused this issue?
It would seem very odd that with a piece of software I can not toggle a provided setting/option on or off without a negative effect such as this.
That would be a bug in most pieces of software.
Second, if it causes issues why do you have it as a feature?

Dear Bret,
I’m so sorry.
Paid Membership Pro plugin is the 3rd party plugin, not our plugin so we can’t change anything on that plugin.
Please consider it.
Thanks!

Hey Huyen,
If am not mistaken, this functionality is handled by your Learnpress add on that I bought:
https://thimpress.com/product/paid-memberships-pro-add-learnpress/
And the issue is triggered by updating a Learnpress course, and subject to a setting provided in the PMP Learnpress add-on.
That points away from the issue being PMP plugin in my opinion (though I haven’t looked at the code yet).
Please provide more detailed and technical explanation as to why the bug isn’t with your software (I was a php programmer for a decade so feel free to get into details).
Thanks.

Dear Bret,
I’m so sorry about that.
But this add-on is based on Paid Membership Pro plugin.
Hope you understand it.
By now, you should create a new Membership level for it.

Hey Huyen,
In looking into this further, I found that in the object the lp_course is marked as “finished” when it shouldn’t be:
[item_type] => lp_course
[status] => finished
[ref_id] => 5492
[ref_type] => lp_order
[parent_id] => 0I think that this is causing the problem because its causing the function “learn_press_content_item_lesson_complete_button” to return instead of executing learn_press_get_template( ‘content-lesson/button-complete.php’ );
So how does a course get marked as complete in the database?
