Search Dialogue only opens in column with magnifying glass and donate button

Hi,
We have a search bar implemented similarly to the “Disaster” child theme.
Clicking the search bar in the Disaster child theme makes a dialogue which fills up the whole screen. It consists of the textfield for writing the search terms and the rest of the display is a grey box. This seems normal
However, in our modified website, the same dialog is only as wide as the elementor element which contains the magnifying glass and the donate button. This results in the textfield for the search terms to be very narrow and the grey box looks like a mistake.
Is there a way to fix this?
