Users cannot enroll in courses

I am having an issue described as such:
We have a membership plan that allows access to all courses. We have auto-enroll enabled. However, when users are logged-in and click the “course content” to start the course it says “this content is protected, please sign up or log in”. However, they are already logged in and have a membership levels that allows access to the course.
Please advise.
