Website breaks on installing Contact Form 7

Hi,
My WordPress site is hosted on Ubuntu Server 18.04 VM. I have access to the site (frontend / backend) until I don’t install Contact Form 7 Plugin. As soon as the said plugin is installed, weather it be through auto-install or manual, the website stops loading. Now, Contact Form 7 is essential for DEMO imports. So, I am unable to move forward with demo import. Deleting the folder of contact form 7 plugin reinstates site access.
Is the plugin broken? How to get around this issue. I am unable to complete site setup due to this reason. Please guide.
